Email VS Social Media Marketing in Freelancing

email vs social media marketingIn this topic, I will review 2 concepts of marketing strategy is commonly used in e-Commerce base today.

2 concepts are : "Email Marketing and Social Media Marketing Strategies".

The important questions :

1. How if 2 concepts are adopted into the world of freelancing as a self marketing strategy?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each the marketing concept?

In the freelance business, indirectly you are required to be able to compete with your competitors in the market yourself to employers or companies.

While, the development of technology currently allows you to connect to anyone, from anywhere, and anytime. If you have any skill, you can sell anytime.

If you are using email marketing strategy :
  • You are connected to prospective buyer/client/employer directly and closed.
  • You should really know who your prospective buyer /client /employer. Means that you have to identify their needs and how to solve their problems. In this case, you have to build a personal relationship to your prospective buyer. This means, you are not a "spammer".
  • You need to convince your prospective buyer/client/employer that you are a legitimate freelancer and can provide more value. Thus, they interested to buy your services. Whether you a SEO consultant, content writer, web designer, programming, etc.
In social media marketing strategy :
  • You relate openly to many people, allowing you to be noticed.
  • As a professional freelancer, you must show proof to your audience. Whether you a developer, writer, web designers, marketers, and other fields. You can display some of your best work on your profile, your experience, certifications, etc.
  • To gain trust of your audience, you need consistency in establishing a good relationship to your audience. In this case, you need more creativity and time to build your credibility/positive image.
Based on this analysis shows that social media marketing serves to build a "personal branding" to prospective client/buyer/employer, while email marketing works to build business relationships directly with prospective buyer/client/employer.

I think, if these two concepts are combined will be generate "the power" to build your freelance business in the long term.
